The Ultimate MindFreak

As long as I can remember – and quite possibly longer – I’ve been intrigued by the idea of infinity. I find it both terrific and terrifying.

In my earliest thought experiments, I wondered, if I travelled to the very end of everything, how I’d know when I’d got there. Would it be, like, a huge freakin’ wall, or what? And what would there be on the other side..?

Then there was the thorny little matter of life and death, and just who “we” might actually be. I could go on, forever, and sometimes do!

These days I take a different approach. I just get on with stuff. I try to do things that make sense right now. Being creative, for instance, feels like a worthwhile, enriching and generous way to live.

Colours and words are some of my favourite raw materials. I also like creating connections although I really believe that we are all already infinitely connected. That might not be a total surprise to you.

If you’re more of a down-to-earth type, you might want to know that I’m in my 50s, originally from Scotland via London, had the odd (yes, odd) spell in Australia and Greece, and have now spent half my life in or near Paris. I like to say that the Eiffel Tower (or “Lady Eiffel”, as I sometimes cringingly refer to it) is my creative muse.

I used to call myself things like an English teacher or a street photographer or a creative coach. I may still do these things, amongst others, but I stopped sticking labels on myself quite a while ago. The reason’s simple: I haven’t got a clue what I am. I do have a vague idea of what I do from time to time, so I talk about that instead.
